Are You Ready to Improve Your Game

It's About 'BLENDING'!

journey.JPG

If you play this wonderful game, then you know how challenging it can sometimes be to 'breakthrough' with your game's improvement.  If you are new to the game then welcome

Our 'personal game improvement' is very much a part of what being involved with the game is all about.  While playing the game is fun (and it's a whole lot more fun when we play well), what we do to improve our skills is really what TGM Golf is all about.  The 'improvement process' is a 'path' and it is also very 'personal'.  We develop playing styles, techniques, and processes that are unique to us based on our individual traits, characteristics, and capabilities.

As you will see, some of what you will work on during your improvement process is more 'absolute' than the rest.  Certain 'positions and movements' with the club during the swing are more essential when it comes to genuinely improving.  We'll talk about these essentials and help you to develop them.

Outside of developing the essential movements we just need to get as much exposure to the game as we can and enjoy these opportunities.  Check out a golf magazine, read a book, go to the internet, chip a few balls in the back yard or field nearby, putt a few balls across the den carpet, go to the range to hit a few, head to the course and get a few holes in without 'keeping score', or just do the 'ready / set / go' drill that we will show you are all ways to 'move yourself along the path to improvement'!

Whatever skill level we are we need to understand that improving our games is a personal process related to several variables.  These 'variables' involve a tool, the body, and the mind.  Some variables are more absolute than others, but all require balance, that is, not too much, not too little, just the right amount!  To 'get the right amount' requires that we understand the 'blending process' and how to begin working it.

Blending

We call the improvement process 'Blending'.  Good 'blending' requires that we mix certain mechanical positions with certain physical movements and then use good tactics when we play. Below is an outline of the important aspects of developing your 'TOTAL' game.  There are 9 important areas to playing the game.

Each area should get some attention and development...IF NEEDED.  We stress 'if needed' here because it's very easy to get 'off the path' and begin thinking about things that will have nothing to do with your genuine improvement.

tgm123logo.jpgTotal Golf Game Management Outline:

When we 'play the game' there are many things happening at the same time that will influence the outcome.  It can be unrealistic to expect that you can fix everything or improve the outcome all at once.  But, you can take it a piece at a time and genuinely improve your ability to play better golf.

'Get the pieces of the puzzle in front of you'

The outline below breaks down the total game into separate areas of importance, these are your 'puzzle pieces'Each area is genuinely important and involved with every golf shot that you will ever play!  Playing a good golf shot is a matter of 'blending' these variables.  When each of these variables are improved upon you create a better PROCESS for playing the game.

Whatever skill level player you are, from beginner who's completely new to the game to veteran tournament player, understanding the outline is essential to your improvement.

We are not necessarily suggesting a new way to swing the club or a new way to make the stroke, there is plenty of good information out there related to those subjects.  What we are suggesting is that there is a better way to decifer and process that information.

'To play better golf, there is a need to learn how to blend'

In the TGM Golf approach you will pay attention to what is absolute, you will understand that there must be balance, and you will know that there is a correct path for you to be on.  Your Game Management Outline is as follows:

1- Mechanical: Positions the club is in
            1- Angle- For power
       2- Swingpath- For direction
       3- Release-Action- For power & direction

2- Physical: Movements the body makes
       1- Your body
       2- Your rhythm
       3- Your timing

3- Tactical: Thoughts and processes
       1- Mental processes
       2- Emotional processes
       3- Belief system

These three dimensions, Mechanical / Physical / and Tactical each divided into three more variables represent exactly what takes place when playing the game of golf.  As one of the 9 variables change the other 8 may well be affected.  Putting the 'puzzle' together requires that you have an understanding of each.  Those who 'get it', whether they know it or not, have developed all 9 variables to such a degree that they 'blend' together nicely, for this is what playing the game of golf is all about...

So...How do I Start My Game Management Program?

This website is designed and being maintained for you.  If you have already shared some experience with us you'll quickly see that we are reviewing information necessary for you to stay on the path.  If we have not had a chance to share some experience with you...give us a call, we'd like to have a look at your game with you.

Your Game Management Program really begins by having a look at the 9 variables listed above and again below (print a copy).  There are some 'absolutely necessary' (laws if you will) things that need to happen in the 'mechanical' area (there are 3 of them).  You need to know as much as you can about these variables...they are really important in terms of your progress.

As you become more 'mechanically sound' you then must know that the remaining six are also very important, but not so 'absolute', like the mechanics.  With the other six it becomes a matter of 'Balance'.  In other words, you don't want too much, or too little, you're looking for 'just the right amount'.

A Warning to You!

Playing better golf means that you are learning to 'blend' the three dimensions of the game together better.  The 'mechanical' requirements will be in better shape, the 'physical' aspects will be coming along and the 'tactical' processes will be moving you along your PATH.  Here's your 'warning'.

One of your greatest obstacles to improvement will be your 'expectations'.

tgm123logo.jpgTGM Path - Sometimes, we have to work from the answer backwards in order to find the breakthrough.  If you will look at the 9th variable in the outline below you see that in the 'tactical' dimension there is our 'belief system'.  While there is enough information out there to fill 1000 libraries on how the mind works, the bottom line is quite simple...that which we believe in will become our reality.  Our minds operate at 'conscious, as well as subconscious levels' at the same time.  We will develop a better understanding of the differences between the two but for the time being you should know that your best golf shots happen when the subconscious mind has no interference from the conscious mind.

There are no 'whistles and bells' here.  There really is a 'Path To Improvement' but you must stay on that path!  If your expectations (a 'conscious' process) are too high, too quick you can get 'knocked off the path' and wind up getting nowhere...we don't want that to happen.

The TGM Game Management Outline is simple and direct.  Each of the nine items will be involved with every shot that you ever play and every round that you ever play!  Your challenge is to 'blend' (a 'subconscious' process) those nine items and our job is to help you to learn about them so that you will meet that challenge!

tgm123logo.jpgTGM PathThe outline is your path to better golf.  A 'path' is essentially a 'route' and when you look at a map you will see many routes.  There will be different options that will get you from point A to point B.  What you want is the most simple and direct route.  You want to know that you are heading in the right direction.  If you want to take a little 'scenic route' that's OK, but make sure that you are still heading in the right direction.

Each one of the nine items can be considered to be a 'stop' along the path.  We don't want to get 'stuck' there but we do need to 'visit' each one...and re-visit from time-to-time just to keep the 'saw sharp'!

Mechanical (has to do with positions the club is in / the club is a tool use it as it has been designed to be used)
1. Angle- Your primary source of power... no angle = no power!
2. Swingpath- Your primary source of direction...poor path = poor direction!
3. Release Action- Your source of power & direction combined...your golf shot!

Physical (has to do with movements that you make / this is what ultimately determines the quality of a golf shot)
4. Your body- Strength / Flexibility / Endurance
5. Rhythm- The 'to-and-fro' swinging action...pace
6. Timing- Has to do with 'when' different parts of your body are 'firing' (or sputtering!)

Tactical (has to do with anything that is not mechanical or physical ...it's where games are won and lost!)
7. Mental Processes- Awareness / Decision making, pure and simple / Committing to the shot
8. Emotional Processes- Will make or break your round, how to make emotions work for you
9. Belief System- Conscious vs. Subconscious / Balancing Desire and Imagination / Believing creates Reality

This is your path to better golf...It can be your road map
You can have some real fun with this Stuff!!
